Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of  MCA has well furnished library equipped with adequate number of books and journal. The library has optimum infrastructure as per the norms of AICTE. The library has specious and well furnished reading room enriched with newspaper, popular journals and with additional facility of display of new arrivals. This library also has extended period of timings to provide reading facility to learners. Besides, library has reprographic facility and internet connectivity for knowledge accession. The library of this institute has optimum number of books, journals and titles as per AICTE norms. Moreover, library has additional collection of books for general knowledge, communication dynamics, aptitude test, presentation skills, soft skills and personality development required for professional grooming. Nevertheless, consistent efforts are made to enrich library with latest arrivals with relevance to current and contemporize needs as per the suggestions and recommendation of faculty and students. The library has well equipped e-library with an excellent collection of e-books, e-journals, NPM (non printing material include books CD, software installable CD).

In general, the library operates with the following objective:

  • To enhance teaching and learning and research activities of the institutions by creating and maintaining the outstanding repositories in print and digital forms.

  • To develop the collections of library to support with student and faculty members.

  • To access knowledge with the help of wireless interconnectivity to boost interdisciplinary research.

  • To make library as knowledge repository.

Users within our campus can access various books /journals/titles by its author’s names using the link. The Library of the institute has Online Public Access Catalog which is an online database of materials held by the library. Users search a library catalog principally to locate books and other material physically located at a library. The Library OPAC can search on various elements of a bibliographic record like Author Catalogue, Title Catalogue, Subject Catalogue, Publisher Index, Accession Number and Location.

Online Journal

The institute has subscribed to Online - IEEE All-Society Periodicals Package (ASPP) which has 145 Journals plus 2000 files, renewed up to December 2013, it is available on the local area network and can be accessed 24 hours / 365 days by our students, faculty members and Ph. D. scholars.

Digital Library

There are two digital libraries available to provide e-learning resources to our students and faculty members, one developed at central level and other developed at institute level by Swapnil Jagtap (Faculty) and Gaurav Hargude (Student). Computers are exclusively earmarked in the library for this purpose.


National Programme on Technology Enabled Learning was subscribed to help the students and faculty members to access e-learning resources of reputed institutions like IITs and IISC.

Facilty Available

All-in-one Canon m/c (Printer, Fax, Scanner, Xerox) installed to meet instant need of the students. Also one laser printer machine is installed in the library.


All the computers in the library are connected via local area network.

Internet Connectivity

The institute’s library has both wired and wireless (Wi-Fi) internet connection at all times across the campus.

Educational Multimedia Packages

Apart from the text-books, reference books, national and international journals, the students can avail the multimedia learning resource available at the institute. Exclusively five computers have been catered to this facility. This includes facilities to view educational video CDs, DVD and software CD’s.

Automated Services (SMS and E-mail)

Students are reminded of the due date through a manually generated SMS and E-mail service. The Librarian invites new books requisitions from library members and new booklist from vendors using the automated Services. Subsequently the same is used to procure the books.

Innovation and Research


If one has to grow there should always be an execution of research program. For example the old black and white phones are today so advanced with human brain in a 7 inches device called smart phone. This is all because of research possibilities. At DYP we have research driven activities featuring incubation support to versatile ideas. Research programs are for different domains with leadership and sustainability focused learning solutions. Funding opportunities have also an open door to excellent candidates.

The institute provides a conducive academic and intellectual environment with enough opportunities that would enable faculty members to update their research and pedagogical skills under the dyninamic leadership of Dr. K Nirmala Director and Dr. Shalaka Parker Dean MBA. Dr. Abhijeet Kaiwade and Mrs. Dipti Nashine are the member of Research Committee.

International Journal Of Advances In computing And Management (IJACM)

International Journal of Advances in Computing and Management is a scholarly, double blind-reviewed Journal with ISSN 2250-1975. Computing and Management is an emerging, promising intertwined discipline providing platform for shaping the future research and managerial development activities in academia and industry.

It is an international journal intended for professionals and researchers to publish their research articles and reviews pertaining but not limited to Computer Applications and management, advanced scientific and computing, new challenges in modeling complex systems, developing new algorithms, and inter-disciplinary problem- solving environments. IJACM addresses the state of art of all aspects of computational science and management, highlighting computational methods and managerial skills for science and engineering applications.

All submitted articles should report originality, unpublished research results, experimental or theoretical concepts and will be peer-reviewed. Manuscripts submitted should follow the style of the Journal (IEEE format).

Research Activities & Publication :

Membership The efforts were made by the Institute to renew the membership of various professional bodies like IEEE and CSI. Also the annual membership of Jaykar Library (University of Pune) was sought and British Library was renewed.

Institute's Magazine The Institute publishes the annual magazine “Teraminds” which consists of research and general articles by faculty and students.

Institute's Newsletter The Institute always presents the academic and industry views upfront by releasing DYPIMCA Newsletter. 

Research Proposal Constant efforts are taken by the Institute to design a research project proposal to SPPU for Research Grant.

Encouragement of R & D The efforts are made by the Institute to motivate the faculty members to carry out quality research, to attend workshop on research methodology, to present research papers in conferences and publish the same, to tap the great talent available which can ponder and come out with dynamic views through their research which can be valuable contribution to the ongoing practices and also help the organization to win the race in cut-throat competition.

Industry-Institute Interaction Efforts are made by the Institute to increase frequent interactions with industry by increasing institute-industry linkages through HR Meet, Seminars & workshops by Industry Experts and various MOUs.

Application Projects Initiative has been taken to carry out various projects at institute level on no profit no loss basis.

Consultancy Projects Institute had not carried out external sponsored projects; however initiative had been taken to carry out various projects at institute level on no profit no loss basis.

Master of Computer Application Course Overview


The M.C.A program is a blend of computer-related and general business courses. The computer related courses cover all the standard techniques of programming, usage of various software packages, system analysis and design techniques. The general business courses include the functional areas of management like accounting, sales, purchase, inventory, and production. The course emphasizes on the study and creation of business applications, rather than just programming and learning other concepts. Inclusion of projects in each semester improves student’s technical orientation, understanding of IT environment and domain knowledge. It builds right platform for students to become successful Software professionals. This emphasizes on domain knowledge of various areas, which would help the students to build software applications on it. The students are exposed to system development in the information-processing environment, with special emphasis on Management Information Systems and Software Engineering for small and medium computer systems. Inclusion of Business Management Labs helps students to acquire thorough knowledge of management practices in organization. Subjects such as ERP, Information Security and Business Intelligence work as new application domains. Major focus is also given on Mobile technologies so that student can choose Mobile Technologies as their career options. Advanced Internet and Web technology includes variety of new technologies. Soft skills techniques are covered in every semester, which leads to overall personality development of the student and that helps them in their placement activities and to sustain in the organization successfully

Program Duration : 

The M.C.A. program will be a full-time two years Master's Degree Course of Computer Application.

Admission Procedure : 

The selection would be done as per the guidelines by the Admission Regulating Authority, Mumbai and State Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai time to time.


Medium of Instruction:

Medium of instruction is only in English. The course material is also in English.
